Family Child Care

These caregivers often provide services in the caregiver's homes.  Regulations for family child care providers vary from state to state, but if the caregiver is looking after four or more children there are voluntary regulations program provided by the state.  All states require minimum health, safety, and nutrition standards.  Most states require family child care providers to have a criminal records check and/or child abuse and neglect clearance.  Many states require providers to have pre-service and/or on-going training. Most states inspect family child care homes annually or on a random sample basis.
The rational behind a family child care provider is the home-like environment and the close personal attention that the smaller group settings can provide.  This also allows the parents to relate to a single caregiver to ensure the health, safety, and happiness of their children are being satisfied.
