“Mentors as Partners” (MAP)

A project of the Indiana Association for Child Care Resource and Referral, which is funded by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Bureau of Child Care. The project provides funding for each child care resource and referral agency in Indiana to implement a mentoring project with the goal of increasing the quality of child care in the state. In addition to a part-time mentor, the agency Infant Toddler Specialist and Inclusion Specialist may also provide mentoring under the direction of the Education Coordinator.

On-site mentoring is provided to licensed family child care homes, licensed child care centers and registered ministries. The Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales, Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scales and Family Day Care Rating Scales are used to guide and evaluate the project. Materials and equipment are selected by the mentor for participating programs, using the rating scales to determine need.
